Early Life and Education





Born in Isale Eko, Lagos State, Nigeria, Tiwa Savage later moved to London at the age of 11 for her secondary education. Her passion for music emerged early, and by the age of 16, she was already lending her vocals as a backup singer for renowned artists such as George Michael and Mary J. Blige. Tiwa pursued her education at the University of Kent and Berklee College of Music, laying the foundation for her future success.





Musical Career




Tiwa Savage's musical journey took off after participating in the UK edition of The X Factor and signing a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2009. Inspired by the burgeoning Nigerian music industry, she returned to Nigeria, joining Mavin Records in 2012. Her debut studio album, "Once Upon a Time," released in 2013, marked the beginning of a series of achievements and accolades.


Her second album, "R.E.D," followed in 2015, leading to international recognition with a management and publishing deal with Roc Nation in 2016. In 2018, she made history by winning Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards, becoming the first woman to do so. Tiwa continued to ascend with subsequent albums, including "Celia" in 2020 and the EP "Water & Garri" in 2021.
