Somtochukwu Valentine popularly known by his stage name Somval is a Nigerian young singer, songwriter, and also a rapper. Somval is a native of Nteje, Anambra State, Nigeria. He was born on February 14, 1998.

Background And Education

Somval is the third child and only son in a family of four. He has twin sisters. He pursued his education at University Preparatory Secondary School (U.P.S.S.), where he studied Commercial Art and graduated with an impressive O'level certificate (SSCE).

Throughout his secondary school years, Somval lived with his elder sister in Nnewi, Anambra. During this time, he secretly wrote songs and visited recording studios to perform them, as his family and brother-in-law did not approve of his musical aspirations.

Somval's Career

Somval was once a member of the well-known Nnewi artist group, Nnewi Hood Cyphers (N.H.C.). He gained recognition as a highly-rated rapper within the group, even before the release of their popular anthem, "Nnewi To The World." However, due to his family's disapproval of his musical career, he stopped recording songs with the group and attending shows.

Somval's Musical Journey

Despite having written numerous songs, Somval's first official release was "Hammer" in 2018. The following year, he was featured on Ruff Dreadzy's track "Stagger." In 2020, he released a single titled "Mama" and subsequently joined "International Bad Men" Entertainment, under which he has released several songs.
