Ugosinaobichukwu Ikem Mazeli, generally called Ikem Nwa Mazeli is a mind blowing gyration-highlife singer who capably mixes Onitsha (Igbo) social rhythms with current melodic instrumentation. He started his melodic vocation in the well known market city of Onitsha, and made an unmistakable smooth sound.
Ikem Mazeli, whose stage name is Material Onyenwe Egwu, was born and brought up in Onitsha Ado of Anambra State, Nigeria.
In 14 September 2015 , He emerged the winner of the Best highlife singer award in Nigeria.

His musical journey began during his early education at Nwora Umunna Memorial Primary School in Onitsha. Recognizing his talent in music and dance, he joined the Nchetaka Cultural Group, where he eventually became the lead dancer. He further developed his musical abilities as a flutist for the Nkolika Cultural Group. Throughout his education at Washington Memorial Grammar School in Onitsha, he actively participated in the Anglican Youth Fellowship (AYF) and became a lead vocalist in the church band.
In 1994, Ugosinaobichukwu gained admission to Ambrose Ali University in Ekpoma, Edo State. During this time, he formed a band called Onitsha Ado Youths Band with his friends. They made a significant impact in the entertainment sector, leaving a lasting impression on Onitsha and the Igbo culture. After completing his university education, Ugosinaobichukwu decided to pursue his musical aspirations as a solo artist, embarking on a challenging but passionate path.
His encounter with the legendary highlife musician Sir Victor Uwaifo became a turning point in his career. Inspired by Sir Victor's dedication to preserving culture and tradition, Ugosinaobichukwu chose highlife music as his genre, aiming to revive and promote the cultural heritage of Onitsha and Igboland. Starting with remixes, he eventually began creating his own music, establishing himself as one of the greatest in the field.
In 2002, Ugosinaobichukwu married Enyi Eziogoli Nonyelum Mazeli, and they have been blessed with five children: Umeadi, Ojiugo, Onyeoma, Izuorah, and Obianamma.
Beyond his music career, Ugosinaobichukwu actively engages in community building and Onitsha politics. He upholds the cultural ethos of Onicha and was inducted into the prestigious Agbalanze Society of Onitsha Ado in 2017, receiving the unique name Ugosinaobichukwu. Throughout his life, he has held various positions in government, including serving as the Supervisory Councillor for Works in Onitsha North Local Government Area in 2005 and as the Supervisory Councillor for Education in 2012.
Ugosinaobichukwu is also a philanthropist, dedicated to creating an egalitarian society for everyone, regardless of creed, color, belief, or orientation. He actively supports education and has sponsored numerous students from Onitsha and beyond, helping to reduce the alarming rate of school dropouts. Additionally, he has mentored and supported many musicians, some of whom have excelled in the industry.
Known for his traditional music sung predominantly in the Onicha Igbo language, Ugosinaobichukwu has earned the title of the number one highlife maestro. His fame extends globally, with fans and supporters from suburban homes in California to towering structures in Dubai and everywhere in between.
