Yvonne Nelson was born and raised in Accra, Ghana, where she is the youngest of three siblings. Her mother comes from Cape Coast in the Central Region, while her father is from the Ga community in the Greater Accra Region. Nelson attended St. Martin De Porres School in Accra for her early education before moving to Aggrey Memorial Senior High School. She pursued tertiary education at Zenith University College and Central University, earning a degree in human resource management. In 2020, she graduated from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) with a master's degree in International Relations and Diplomacy.

 

 

 

 Career

 

 

 

Nelson's start in the entertainment industry happened by chance. She went to watch an audition and was asked by a producer to join in. She first acted in the movies "Princess Tyra" (2007) and "Playboy" (2008). In 2011, she produced her first film, "The Price." She then made other successful movies like "Single and Married" (2012) and "House of Gold" (2013), which won awards for Best Picture at the Ghana Movie Awards and Best Ghanaian Movie at the 2013 City People Entertainment Awards.

 

In 2018, Nelson created the TV show "Heels and Sneakers." The show is about young adults dealing with challenges in their search for happiness, education, jobs, and marriage. The show has completed two seasons.

Yvonne Nelson gave birth to a daughter, Ryn Roberts, on October 29, 2017, with her ex-boyfriend, Jamie Roberts. Nelson kept her pregnancy private until announcing her daughter's birth through a WOW Magazine cover story.
