Yul Chibuike Daniel Edochie (born on 7 January 1982) popularly known as Yul Edochie, is a Nigerian popular actor, director, film maker, advertiser and Philanthropist. He was named after Russian actor Yul Brynner.

He is from Oyi local government area of Anambra state, Nigeria, the last son of a Nigerian legendary actor, Pete Edochie and Mrs Josephine Edochie. He was raised by both parents in Lagos and Enugu State, Nigeria.

Education 

Yul Edochie's educational journey began at Lillians’ Day Nursery School and Robinson Street Primary School, Enugu, spanning from 1984 to 1992. His secondary education extended from 1992 to 1998, including time at Marist Brothers’ Juniorate, Uturu, University Secondary School Enugu, Ecumenical Community Secondary School Enugu, and New Haven Boys Secondary School Enugu. Subsequently, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts from the University of Port Harcourt.

How Yul Edochie Met His Wife

During his university years, Yul met his future wife, May Aligwe, and they married six years later. At the age of 22, he tied the knot with May, and the couple has since been blessed with three sons and a daughter. Notably, on April 27, 2022, Yul revealed that he had taken Judy Austin as his second wife, along with their newborn son.

Career

Yul Edochie ventured into Nollywood in 2005 with his debut film, "The Exquires," marking the beginning of his cinematic career. His breakthrough came in 2007 when he starred alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot in the movie "Wind Of Glory." In 2015, he established a film academy in Lagos to address the decline in quality among emerging Nigerian actors and actresses, intending to personally nurture the next generation of talent for the Nigerian Film Industry.

In 2017, Yul declared his intention to run for Governor of Anambra State and was subsequently appointed Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Creative and Entertainment Media by Dr. Willie Obiano. His official declaration and nomination under the "Democratic Peoples Congress" occurred on August 22, 2017, following the passage of the Not Too Young To Run Bill by the Nigerian Senate.

Actor Yul Edochie publicly reveals details about his first wife, exposing her undisclosed cosmetic surgery for breast enlargement, which he claims she did without his knowledge. He accuses her of attempting to portray him negatively while presenting herself as the virtuous one on Instagram.

Yul Edochie states that, contrary to her claim of mourning her son, his first wife underwent breast enlargement surgery. He alleges that her supposed married boyfriend supported and endorsed the procedure.
