Early Life and Education

 

 

 

Born in Accra, Ghana, Wendy Shay's early years were shaped by her family in Kwahu, Ghana's Eastern Region. Following her father's demise, she, along with her siblings, relocated to Stuttgart, Germany. Wendy Shay's passion for music blossomed after the loss of her father at the tender age of four. She attended Morning Star School and St Martin de Porres in Accra, continuing her education in Stuttgart from grade 7 (JHS 1). Additionally, she pursued her musical interest at a school in Bernhausen, Germany.

 

 

 

Career

 

 

 

Trained as a nurse, Wendy Shay initially worked as a midwife in the clinical field before transitioning to pursue her musical dreams in Ghana. Her musical journey commenced at the age of four, and in 2018, she was introduced to the industry by Rufftown Records Manager Bullet. Wendy Shay's debut single, "Uber Driver," produced by MOG Beatz, was released on June 1, 2018. She has since become a notable figure in Ghana's music scene.

 

Wendy Shay's association with Rufftown Records paved the way for her to be enstooled as the Ahenemba Hemaa of Gomoa Afransi in the Central Region, earning the stool name Queen Ewurabena Ofosuhemaa Shay.

 

 

 

Brand Ambassador

 

 

Wendy Shay holds the position of brand ambassador for the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in Ghana. Despite a brief controversy surrounding her status, she continues to serve in this capacity.

 

 

 

Performance

 

 

 

Having graced various events, including Miss Ghana 2018 Finals, RTP Awards Africa 2018, and the BF Suma Ghana Connect 18 concert, Wendy Shay received the Discovery of the Year award at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Noteworthy nominations and wins further solidify her presence in the industry.

 

In December 2019, Wendy Shay performed at Ghana's Afronation Music Festival, and her 2022 performance in Belgium at the Ghana Culture Festival faced an unexpected interruption by the police.

 

 

 

Accident 

 

 

 

 

In September 2023, Wendy Shay experienced a collision incident on the Kwabenya road, involving a tipper truck. Although unharmed, she complained of severe headaches after the incident.

Wendy Shay's remarkable achievements include winning the Best New Artiste of the Year at the Ghana-Naija Showbiz Awards in 2018 and earning accolades at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and Ghana Music Awards UK.
