Nwabali is from Imo State, Nigeria, born into an Igbo Christian family. Growing up in Port Harcourt, he was surrounded by Nigeria's lively football scene. Although he initially wanted to be a striker, he switched to being a goalkeeper, a choice that would define his career path.
Nwabali embarked on his professional football journey in 2019 with Go Round FC, a Nigerian team based in Omoku. He caught the eye with his stellar performances, which led to a transfer to Enyimba, one of Nigeria's most prestigious clubs, in 2020. There, he played a pivotal role in securing the Nigeria Professional Football League title in 2021 and guiding the team to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
In the same year, Nwabali made his international debut for Nigeria in a friendly match against Mexico in Los Angeles, USA. Despite conceding four goals in a 4-0 defeat, he showcased his potential. However, his true moment of glory came during the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, where he emerged as the hero for Nigeria. In the semi-finals against South Africa, he saved two crucial penalties in a shootout, propelling Nigeria to the final.
Nwabali's journey didn't stop there. He continued to excel at Lobi Stars and later Katsina United before making a move to Chippa United, becoming the first Nigerian goalkeeper to join the South African club. His rapid rise to prominence is attributed to his remarkable agility, reflexes, positioning, and leadership on the field.
Often compared to the legendary Vincent Enyeama, who represented both Enyimba and Lille, Nwabali aspires to follow in his footsteps and replicate his success. He holds Enyeama in high regard and aims to emulate his achievements in the world of football.
