Born on 14 February 1932 in Osogbo, Nigeria, to Owomoyela and Mrs. Christiana Morenike Owomoyela, Orlando Owoh's roots traced back to Ifon, Ondo State, through his father, and Owo through his mother. Initially pursuing carpentry, his life took a musical turn in 1958 when he joined Nigeria's Kola Ogunmola Theatre Group, where he played drums and sang.
In 1960, Orlando Owoh established the Omimah Band, marking the beginning of a prolific musical career. He later formed the Young Kenneries and the African Kenneries International. Despite the evolving music scene favoring newer styles like jùjú and fuji, Owoh remained a beloved figure in Nigeria's highlife music, producing a remarkable catalog with over 45 albums.
