Early Life and Education

 

 

Mercy Amoah, known to many as Ohemaa Mercy, was born in Weija, Accra, to Fantis parents, Mr. and Mrs. Amoah. Raised in Koforidua, she attended St. Peter's Anglican Primary School for her primary education and Ghana Senior High School for her secondary education. Ohemaa continued her academic journey at the S.D.A Teachers Training College, Asokore, Koforidua, obtaining her Teachers Certificate ‘A.'

 

 

 

Career

 

 

Ohemaa Mercy took her first step into the music scene with the release of "Adamfo Papa" in November 2004. The album's success quickly propelled her to fame, earning her seven nominations at the 2006 Ghana Music Awards and the coveted Discovery of the Year title at the Gospel Music Awards.

 

In 2007, her second album, "Edin Jesus," became a sensation, claiming the title of the best-selling album of the year with a remarkable 875,000 copies sold within six months. Ohemaa Mercy's winning streak continued with subsequent albums, notably "Wobeye Kese" (2010-11), which not only dominated major music charts but also secured multiple nominations at the prestigious Ghana Music Awards.
