Early Life and Education



Born on July 13, 1990, in KwaMashu Township, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Nomzamo Nxumalo Mbatha is of Zulu descent. She went to Rippon Primary School in Durban and later graduated from Bechet High School. In 2018, she completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting from the University of Cape Town.








Mbatha's journey to fame started in July 2012 when she auditioned for a TV show. She gained recognition for her role as Thandeka Zungu in the popular series "Isibaya" from 2013 to 2020. Her acting career expanded into films with her debut in "Tell Me Sweet Something" (2015) and various TV projects like "Umlilo" (2015-2016) and "Holiday Swap." Mbatha's international breakthrough came when she starred as Mirembe in Eddie Murphy's "Coming 2 America" (2021). In 2023, she took on the lead role and became an executive producer for "Shaka iLembe," showcasing her diverse talents.
