Early Life and Education

 

 

Joe Mettle's journey began in Accra, where he was born to Florence Addo and Emmanuel Mettle. As the eldest of six siblings, he embarked on his educational path at Richard Akwei Memorial School, later moving to Kade 1&2 Primary School and eventually studying at St. Michael's and All Angels in Accra. His academic journey continued through Korle Gonno 3 Junior High School, His Majesty Academy, and finally, as an alumnus of Accra Academy. Notably, Joe pursued draftsmanship at the Modern School of Draftsmanship before attending Pentecost University College.

 

 

 

Career

 

 

Even though Joe Mettle initially pursued a career in marketing, his true passion surfaced in the realm of worship. In the early stages of his singing journey, he played a supporting role for renowned Ghanaian gospel artists like Cindy Thompson, the late Danny Nettey, and Reverend Tom Bright Davies. As the lead singer for the multicultural music group, Soul Winners, Joe significantly influenced the gospel music scene.

 

His breakthrough moment arrived in 2017 at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), where he achieved a historic feat by winning Artist of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, and Male Vocalist Artiste of the Year. This marked a significant milestone, as Joe Mettle became the first gospel artist to secure the prestigious Artist of the Year award.

 

Beyond the borders of Ghana, Joe Mettle has collaborated and shared the stage with international gospel luminaries such as Donnie McClurkin, Nathaniel Bassey, and Ntokozo Mbambo. His collection of popular songs, including "Mehia wo Yesu," "Nhyira," "MedÉ” Wo," "Akokyem Nyame," "Mensuro," "Turning Around," and "Yesu Adi Nkunim," resonates with diverse audiences, locally and globally. With six albums under his belt, Joe continues to captivate listeners with his soul-stirring music.

 

 

 

Personal Life

 

 

 

In 2007, Joe Mettle Ministries was founded, hosting annual headline events like Praiz Reloaded and Lovegift. Beyond his music career, Joe manages Reverb Studios, a rehearsal and recording studio in Accra, offering musical equipment rental and music and marketing consultancy services.

In his personal life, Joe Mettle tied the knot with Salomey Selassie Dzisa in a traditional marriage ceremony in Accra on August 13, 2020, followed by an official wedding ceremony in Tema on August 15, 2020.
