Ishmael Philemon Ackon, popularly known as Bro. Philemon, is a renowned Ghanaian gospel singer, songwriter, and composer. He was born on 15 October 1980 in Manse, Kumasi, and grew up in a family that had a strong connection to music through church. His parents were members of the Methodist Church.

With the support of his parents, Bro. Philemon became a Christian and adopted his current name. He attended Saint John's Secondary School in Sekondi and later graduated from the University of Ghana and the University of Education, Winneba, with a degree in fine arts, majoring in theater management.

 

Bro. Philemon has traveled to several countries, including Hong Kong, Dubai, Ethiopia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the UK, Belgium, Norway, Thailand, and the Philippines, propagating the gospel through music. He currently lives in China with his wife and two children, and they attend the Shenzhen International Fellowship, where Bro. Philemon serves as a worship leader for the 700 to 1000 members.

 

Bro. Philemon's album, M'asan Aban, is dedicated to his late father and has collaborations with notable Ghanaians in the music industry, including Morris Babyface, George Spartz, Alexandra, OJ of "Etse S3n" fame, and Senam. The album was released under the reputable Ai-Phil Recordz GH label.

 

Throughout his career, Bro. Philemon has received numerous awards for his contributions to gospel music, and he continues to inspire and uplift people through his music.
