Lizzy Anjorin, hailing from Badagry in Lagos State, Nigeria, was born into a diverse family with a Christian father and a Muslim mother. Raised in poverty, she once worked as a food seller, motivated by the fear of returning to financial hardship. Anjorin began her academic journey at Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2003, where she engaged in student activism. Graduating in 2017 with a BSc in Transport Planning and Management, she later pursued acting, attending classes where she crossed paths with Idowu Ogungbe and Ahmed Alasari, pivotal figures in her career.

Anjorin rose to prominence as an actress in the late 2000s, featuring in notable films like "Ise Onise" and "Arewa Ejo" in 2009, as well as "Owowunmi" in 2010. Transitioning to film production, she debuted with "Tolani Gbarada" and went on to create films like "Gold," a reflection of her own life, "Iyawo Abuke," "Kofo Tinubu," "Kofo De First Lady," and "Owo Naira Bet," touted as the most expensive Yoruba film at the time. In September 2019, a social media feud erupted between Anjorin and Toyin Abraham. Anjorin accused Abraham of implicating her in cocaine trafficking, a claim later proven false. Anjorin, a single parent, underwent a religious transformation, converting from Christianity to Islam and adopting the name Aishat. However, in August 2023, she publicly renounced Islam during an Instagram live session, urging her fans to refrain from addressing her with Islamic titles.

 

 

Anjorin married her husband, Lateef Adegboyega Lawal on July 16, 2020, in a modest traditional ceremony attended by close relatives. Lateef, a Muslim, had been married to five women prior to Lizzy. The couple, have known each other for 14 years, officially united on July 16, 2020.
