Akoo Nana, born William Ato Ankrah, is an Afrobeat musician from Ghana. He grew up as the second of three boys with a passion for entertainment, which earned him the nickname "Akoo Nana" during his secondary school years. Despite his early interest in music at Hamdala School in Kano, Nigeria, it was at ATTC and MOTESCO that he honed his talent for hip-life and dancehall genres.

Akoo Nana's determination to succeed in the entertainment industry led him to seek advice from experienced individuals like Reggie Zippy and Castro, with whom he collaborated on several successful songs. He released his first album, "Afa," in 2007 and has since released two more albums, including his latest titled "M.P." His music is heavily influenced by artistes such as Morgan Heritage, Sizzla, Bob Marley, Amakye Dede, Daddy Lumba, Obrafour, MC Hammer, Tupac, and Osibisa.

 

Akoo Nana's collaborations with various renowned artistes have helped to improve his status in the industry. He has performed at many significant events, including the 2011 Citi FM's December and the Haiti Benefit Concert. He received a nomination for Hiplife Song of the Year at the 2011 Ghana Music Awards and has released popular singles such as "Magic," "Pressure ft Stonebwouy," and "Mi Yadaa Mii ft Castro." He aspires to expand his reach beyond the African continent with his unique style of music.
