Sound Sultan, born Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi on November 27, 1976, in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, left an indelible mark on the country's music scene. As a rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, comedian, and more, he became a pacesetter in modern Nigerian hip hop, using his music to address societal issues.

In 1991, Sound Sultan's musical journey began, driven by a passion for miming and writing lyrics. Influenced by his elder brother, Baba Dee, who studied theatre arts, he started playing the guitar in 1999 after completing secondary school.
Sound Sultan's entry into show business in the 1990s involved hosting shows to fund studio sessions. Winning local talent-hunt shows by 1999, he released the hit single "Mathematics Jagbajantis" in 2000. After several independent releases and collaborations, he signed with Kennis Music, later co-founding Naija Ninjas with Baba Dee. Beyond rap, he explored R&B, Afrobeat, soul, and Fuji music.
Under Naija Ninjas, he released albums like "Back From The Future" (2011) and the EP "The Rebirth" (2012). His collaboration with Wyclef Jean and UN Ambassador for Peace recognition showcased his global impact. Sound Sultan's musical versatility thrived, evident in his 2015 comeback single "Remember."
Apart from music, he ventured into basketball, becoming a team owner of Lagos City Stars after the African Basketball League fallout. His last recorded musical appearance was on Honorebel's 2019 single "Bridal" with Joe El.
Sound Sultan married Chichi Morah in 2009, and they shared three children. In May 2021, news of his battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma surfaced, leading to his unfortunate demise on July 11, 2021, at the age of 44.
In 2012, he earned a nomination for Album of the Year at The Headies for "Back From The Future."
Sound Sultan's legacy extends beyond music; he touched hearts with his activism and philanthropy. His impact on Nigeria's music industry and society remains a testament to his enduring influence.
