Mayorkun, born Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel on March 23, 1994, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and pianist. Rising to fame with a cover of Davido's "The Money," discovered on Twitter, he began his musical journey under Davido's DMW label.

Born in Osun State, Nigeria, Mayorkun is the first of three children in a family deeply rooted in entertainment. His mother, Toyin Adewale, is a renowned Nollywood actress, while his father, Sunday Adewale, was an artist and movie producer. Despite initial opposition from his mother, Mayorkun pursued music, leaving his banking job due to dissatisfaction with the pay.

Musical Career

Mayorkun's breakthrough came when Davido noticed his cover video in February 2016. Signed to DMW, he debuted with the hit single "Eleko" in 2016, followed by several successful tracks like "Yawa," "Sade," "Che Che," and "Mama." His debut studio album, "The Mayor of Lagos," was released in November 2018, receiving global recognition.
