Leonard was born in Anambra state, Nigeria, which is located in the southeastern part of the country. This region is mostly inhabited by the Igbo people of Nigeria. Leonard is the oldest child in his family, which consists of his parents, a younger sibling, and himself.
He attended St. Peter's Anglican Primary School in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State for his primary education. Later, he went to Oregun High School in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos State for his secondary education.
After completing his secondary education, Leonard decided to pursue a degree. He moved to Kaduna State in northern Nigeria and applied to Kaduna Polytechnic. Luckily, he was accepted into the institution and successfully graduated with a degree in biochemistry.
